Nine schools in the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division received $10,000 from the KidoodleED $1 million school giveaway contest.

Ten schools in the division submitted videos to the contest, showing ideas on how they would use the money and nine winners were announced on June 16. These include six Lethbridge schools and one in Taber, Bow Island and Coaldale.

“It’s huge just from the simple fact that we had a number of our students that were involved in the dreaming, or the consultative process, was a huge thing in and of itself but when you think of what was highlighted in the videos in terms of little projects that could be done at the school level that wouldn’t have otherwise had a chance to,” said superintendent Ken Sampson.

He said ideas presented in the videos included technology resources such as 3D printers, iPads and Chromebooks, as well as extra fieldtrips, band and gym equipment.

“Just that process of engaging students in that process of advocating for the financial support for their school was huge and so I was very proud of all of our submissions,” he said.
