Staying on top of the busy family schedule
(NC) Between school events, after-school activities, hangouts with friends and work obligations, managing the family schedule can be a challenge. Here are a few tips to keep on top of your family’s schedule.
Find your ideal calendar. Whether it’s a digital day timer or classic paper calendar pinned to the wall, a calendar is a great way to help keep organized. But not every type works for everyone. Experiment with the various types until you’re satisfied you’ve got one that fits your needs. If you’re using a digital version, make sure it syncs across your devices so that when one gets updated, the others do too.
Get everyone involved. Your calendar is a family affair, even with little ones at home. Go over the day’s schedule ahead of time, sharing what everyone has going on. This can jog everyone’s memory and avoid unwanted surprises or stress. For children who can’t yet read, stickers are a great way to help them learn about the importance of schedules at a young age.
Get booked. When it comes to to-dos like trips to the dentist, health-care appointments and vaccination appointments, it’s often easiest to stay ahead of the game by booking the next appointment while at the current one. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, getting routine vaccines at the recommended times is the best way to help protect children from serious but preventable diseases.
