CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The co-founder of SkipTheDishes is trying to duplicate some of his success in the tech sector in Calgary.

Chris Simair says his not-for-profit pilot program called Harvest will work with entrepreneurs on the prairies, who want help building their unique businesses.

“Harvest takes founders with disruptive ideas and provides them with world-class talent, funding and support to co-build their businesses into globally competitive companies.”

Simair says they’ve set up offices in Calgary’s M2 building in the East Village.

“The culture in Calgary is really one of entrepreneurship,” said Simair. “We’re trying to take the talent here and refocus it on the Calgary of the future, and diversifying the economy.”

Simair says Harvest has already helped local portfolio company Neo Financial grow to more than 20 employees with plans to go to market next year.

He says Harvest is still considering where its headquarters will be located, but Calgary is a top contender.

Simair’s Winnipeg-based food delivery company SkipTheDishes has grown to become one of Canada’s largest tech firms.
