CALGARY (660 NEWS) — For the ninth year in a row, the Calgary Parking Authority (CPA) is giving away the gift of free parking.

Holiday Parking Elves will be hitting the streets of Calgary over the course of the next two weekends starting as many free parking sessions as possible.

People can expect to spot the holiday elves in Kensington, 4 Street, Inglewood, and 17 Ave. on both Saturday, December 7 and Saturday, December 14.

CPA is hoping to support people that are supporting local businesses in our city.

“We love supporting Calgary’s local businesses and communities by brightening shoppers’ days with a free parking session,” CPA General Manager Glen Furtado said.

The City of Calgary launched the #BuyLocalYYC campaign to remind Calgarians of the importance of buying local goods during the holiday season and year-round.

The City is also asking those who do support their favorite local businesses to use #BuyLocalYYC on social media and spread the word.

If you’re looking to receive free parking yourself, the parking elves will be out in the aforementioned areas between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

CPA says parkers should look for a Holiday Parking Elf before making a parking payment.
