Services Alberta's Budget 2019 has invested twenty million dollars per year to educate Albertans on consumer protection and enforcement activities.

This injection of money will also support the introduction of new tools to help prevent consumers and businesses from scam, fraud and potential financial losses.

Nate Glubish, Minister Of Service Alberta  says its crucial to give Albertans the tools they need to better protect themselves.

"Giving Albertans more tools to search businesses online to see if any enforcement actions have been taken against them, means giving peo0ple peace of mind about the businesses they choose to support. At the end of the day, this means confident consumers and responsible businesees."

Three new consumers tools will be ready available to help better protect consumers.

A Business Enforcement Search Tool will allow consumers and businesses easy and free access to the history of enforcement actions against a business.

A Consumer Alerts Program has also been implemented, a new page on alberta.ca issues proactive warnings about dishonest businesses.

Consumers and business owners can now also take full advantage of a Report a Rip-off tip line that allows consumers to submit anonymous tips to report suspicious or dishonest activities.

Service Alberta receives about 3,000 consumer complaints each year.
